No greater love

2014-04-18_0002

Lily and I spent most of our morning decorating eggs together.  She was in her element creating, painting, gluing and making a beautiful mess :))

She is a creative soul at heart and I love seeing her joy unfold when she is free to explore and do what  makes her heart sing.  I asked her tonight after reading our Bible story what was her favorite part of our day and she immediately said, "decorating eggs with you".

Last week while we were on a walk she found this stick and insisted that we make a cross out of it.  Then we talked about what Jesus did on the cross for us and she wanted to draw a picture of him to nail to the cross.  Today I received a gift in the mail from a dear friend with this love charm bracelet.  The timing was perfect as we reflect and remember the great sacrifice and love Christ poured out for us on the cross.  I am so undeserving and yet He loved me enough to bear my sin unto death so that I may have life.

We also made some resurrection eggs today to help her better understand the meaning of Easter.  Here is a clip of Lily telling the story of God's love and redemption...

"Greater love has no one than this, that someone lasts down his life for his friends."  John 15:13
May you reflect in the power of the cross this Easter.

中国农历新年 {Chinese New Year...year of the snake}

BLOG holding out fortune cookies

The Chinese new year officially began Sunday, February 10th but the celebration will last about 15 days ending with the lantern festival on the 24th so technically I'm not too late in posting these :)

BLOG collage pink

We had a break in the weather this past weekend which was a nice change from shooting indoors.

As you can see...Lily was a happy soul!  She loved getting dressed up in her silks and eating fortune cookies with her chopsticks.

BLOG looking up eating cookie

These were taken in an area with little sunlight and she started to get cold so we headed up the path to find the sun and warm up a bit.

BLOG collage soft light

I love the soft and dreamy feel of these...it is amazing what a little added light can do to a photo!

BLOG umbrella

These eyes go straight to my heart...we are very grateful for this little China angel who has enriched our family in more ways than I ever imagined.

Favorite Photo Friday {Reading with Daddy's Flashlight}

BLOG reading with light on head without flare

Last week Lily began asking me if I would read to her "in Daddy and Mommy's bed".

BLOG wide eyes

One night as we were getting ready to read, she grabbed the small flashlight Michael keeps beside our bed and started to explore.

So I grabbed my camera thinking it was a perfect opportunity to see what I could do with just her flashlight illuminating the dark room.

BLOG looking down at book

She had fun re-telling the story of The Very Hungry Catepillar.

BLOG sitting up reading

I had fun watching her through the lens and trying to capture the little details.

BLOG looking up with flashlight

This is my favorite from the series...I love how her little feet are crossed as she is exploring the cause and effect of the light on the ceiling.

BLOG just one eye

Even in the darkness, her eyes still sparkle.

BLOG just one eye looking up

You can tell by this look that our night-time reading with a flashlight is not over yet :)

"Even darkness is not dark to you and the night is as bright as the day.
Darkness and light are alike to you." Psalm 139:12

Linking up with my friend Lisa's Favorite Photo Friday.
Be sure and stop by to see her amazing photography.

Happy Friday!
